When I first moved to the United States, one of the things that I was most looking forward to was experiencing all sorts of different cultures. And what better way to do this than to have my mom along for the ride? So when she asked if she could come and visit me in Virginia, I couldn’t have been more excited! We had a great time exploring different parts of the state, eating some delicious food, and spending some quality time together. Here’s a day-by-day recap of our trip:
Virginia, USA
Virginia, USA is known for its lush landscapes and historical sites. Here are some of the things we did on our day trip:
We started out the day by visiting the George Washington Presidential Library. The library has a lot of exhibits on different aspects of Washington’s life, including his time as president.
Afterward, we drove to Mount Vernon, where George Washington was born and spent most of his life. The plantation is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is worth spending an afternoon there if you have the time. We walked around the plantation and saw all the different buildings, including the unfinished presidential house that Washington eventually moved into.
Next, we headed to Richmond for lunch. Richmond is one of Virginia’s most historic cities, and it has a lot of attractions that are worth checking out. Among them are the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and Robert E Lee Memorial Park. We also stopped by Byrd Park which has beautiful gardens and a pond with swans swimming around it.
After lunch, we drove to Charlottesville to visit the University of Virginia ( UVa ). UVa is one of America’s leading universities, with over 30,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. We toured some of the campus buildings and saw some of the facilities that students use such as libraries and athletic fields. There was also a nice view from atop UVa’s Rotunda tower which overlooks much of Charlottesville.
Finally, we went back to our hotel to relax before dinner

Activities
On a recent trip to Virginia, my wife and I took a day out to explore the various activities available in the area. We started the day by visiting a local farmers’ market. The market had a wide variety of produce, meat, and cheese available for purchase. After finishing up at the market, we drove to a nearby winery where we were able to sample several different wines. Next, we made our way to an amusement park located about an hour away from our hotel. The amusement park had a wide variety of rides available for visitors of all ages. We even managed to get in on some of the fun ourselves! Finally, on our final stop of the day, we visited an antique store where we were able to find some unique items for home decoration. Overall, this was an enjoyable day out that provided us with plenty of opportunities to explore different parts of Virginia and enjoy some delicious food along the way!
Food
Virginia is a beautiful place to live, work and raise a family. When I was pregnant with my first child, I knew that I wanted to live in the Commonwealth of Virginia. After all, it’s home to some of the most iconic American landmarks like Washington DC., Colonial Williamsburg, and Charlottesville.
When my son was born, I quickly realized that breastfeeding would be one of the biggest challenges of my life. Not only did I have to find time for pumping every few hours, but I also had to find somewhere private to do it – without interruption from other people or noisy places.
Fortunately, there are plenty of great places to breastfeed in Virginia, including public parks and gardens, restaurants and cafes, and even within homes if you have the privacy for it. Here are six tips on how to make breastfeeding as smooth as possible in Virginia:
1) Find a comfortable spot where you won’t be disturbed – whether it’s in a public park or garden or your own home. Make sure you have enough supplies with you (breast milk storage containers and a pump), so that you can continue breastfeeding wherever you go.
2) Bring along your support system – someone who will help feed your baby while you’re away and keep an eye on him or her while you nurse. This could be your partner, a family member or friend who is lactation friendly, or even a lactation consultant such as
Tips for traveling with your newborn
1. Make a list of what you need before you leave: diapers, formula, wipes, clothes, and a pacifier.
2. Pack your stroller in case you need to use it.
3. Bring as few items as possible with you – if you can only bring a small backpack or purse, that will be great!
4. Plan your route ahead of time so that you know where to go for the best food and amenities!
5. When traveling with a newborn, always make sure to dress them in clothing that is comfortable and weather-appropriate. If they are sleeping most of the time, don’t pack too many pieces of clothing – one or two outfits should do the trick!
